Hi! “Apa khabar?” (How are you?) Born and bred in Melaka, someone who is known to be a proud Malaccan and love promoting our culture and heritage of this historic city. I have been hosting tours in Melaka for the last 28 years and my greatest accomplishment as a tour guide was being awarded Achievement Award for Contribution to Heritage and Leadership from The Oxford Center for Leadership, United Kingdom in 2009 and recognised by Tourism Malaysia as the Best Tour Guide (Excellent) for year 2010/2011. My aspiration has always been providing a great experience for my guests and instil a better understanding and a little more appreciation towards the heritage of Melaka. So, in 2015, I established a Non-governmental Organisation called the Persatuan Sahabat Muzium Melaka or Friends of Melaka Museums with a group of members who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experiences back in 1940s to as many people as possible. A special shout-out to my team members; Eddie Chua & Colin Goh for the dedication in curating and hosting these authentic experiences in Melaka. I love connecting with fellow Malaysians and people from all around the world because I believe that we could learn so much from our culture and history, whilst we continue to improve the way we live at present and the future. I look forward to saying “Selamat Datang” (Welcome) to you and hosting this experience with you, your friends and family.

Wonderful virtual experience. I had the fortune of seeing Morten Village with Shaukani via this digital tour. The online experience involves Shaukani showing us the houses, residents, and ways of living in this historical Malay village in Melaka. The hour-long tour lets you "explore" Morten Village with Shaukani as both your tour guide and on-site cameraman. Us "online tourists" are given glimpses of the Melaka river, authentic architecture of Morten Village, and local delicacies that we wish we could have a bite off! Shaukani adds a human element to the online tour via his short interviews with the Morten villagers themselves. I enjoyed Kak Mina's house tour and onde-onde demonstration, and Bashir's handcrafted replicas of traditional houses. Though an online experience is not the same as actually being there, the On-site Virtual Experience at Morten Village was a nice way to see Malaysia. As soon as the pandemic is under control, I will be enquiring about Shaukani's in-person tour arrangements during my Malaysian visit :)

Fantastically informative and entertaining tour of a very unique and historical Malaysian village settlement. Shaukani showed us glimpses of Kampung Morten that even Malaccans have unlikely encountered; the best part was "meeting" the locals as they go about their daily lives, whether cooking Malaysian snacks or building beautiful traditional miniature houses. I feel privileged to have been a part of this virtual experience and I can't wait to see more.

The virtual tour was flawless with an excellent commentary on the insights of Kampung Morten, Melaka. Trust me you will be glued to your monitor watching and listening to En Shaukani without realising how quick time flies. En Shaukani, you deserve a pat on the back. Well done and keep up the good work.

We did this wonderful virtual tour with Shaukani and had a fantastic time. We live in San Francisco and Shaukani was our national tour guide for the Gate 1 Malaysia tour and he was outstanding. With the pandemic, we are force to give up traveling for the time being and decided to give this virtual tour a try and we were truly happy we did! Shaukani Started by giving us an excellent historical background stories of Morten Village as well as its cultural significance in Malaysia and Melaka then we proceed to tours two wonderful historical buildings unique in this area. Shaukani with the assistance of the manager/owner of the properties gave us detailed descriptions of the structure and their cultural significance as well as some interesting historical background and personal stories. Shaukani took pains to point out the detailed craftsmanship and its importance to Malaysia and to the unique local Melaka heritage. We then proceed to a master craft master who builds model historical buildings unique for the local areas and saw demonstration of his works. Along the tour, Shaukani pointed out local plants as well as herbs and their usage unique for the local people. We passed beautiful Melaka city scenery and it bought back lovely memories of our visit to this beautiful city and the warm friendly people who greeted us. We ended the tour with a surprise stop to a local sweet shop specializes in banana desserts and it looked super yummy. We can’t wait for the pandemic to be over and when it is safe to travel again so we can do this tour in person with Shaukani at Melaka!. Highly recommend you embark this virtual fun adventure with Shaukani!

This on-site virtual tour gives one of a kind experience, I totally loved it. It was like being transported to the beautiful Morten village. Shaukani made it so lively, explaining the details of the beautiful houses, herbs in the garden, traditional clothing and so much more. I liked the way he engaged with the locals on the way, it made me feel like I was there walking along together. There were even some "virtual" cooking and food tasting, they looked delicious! I took notes of the kuih recipe shared during the tour, so I can try making them on my own. Great tour, very informative and fun, highly recommended!
